What would you tell someone who is thinking of taking a Qoya class for the first time?

It is hard to describe Qoya in words, but Helen Keller's sentiment rings true here: "The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart." Qoya is about slowing down to notice how we feel. It's about relishing sensation and it is a full body experience. It is a heart awakening experience. When you take a Qoya class for the first time, give your mind permission to take a vacation for 90 minutes. I promise it will check back in afterwards.

What would you tell someone who is thinking of taking a Qoya class for the first time?

If you are looking for a way to get out of your head and into your body, Qoya is the fastest way there... If you are looking for fun, perhaps even some laughter or the opportunity to connect with others, then what do you have to lose? If it's already a thought in your head, that is your body's wisdom telling you to GO FOR IT, follow it, and trust THAT. It (your body) has SO MUCH to show you and tell you if you will allow it the time and space to speak. You are BRILLIANT to be listening. If you are feeling awkward about exploring something new and different, that's OK too. We're all awkward and amazing, which makes this class so REAL and authentic. And the playlists are always amazing!

What does it mean for you to teach Qoya?

Teaching Qoya is an honor. It’s a way for me to help women get out of their heads and into their bodies and to life a lifestyle of reverence. Soul aligned movement comes naturally to me. It’s a way to share the truth. Our differences can be celebrated and our vulnerability is worth sharing through community gathering and dancing exactly where we’re at on any given day.
