Dear Soul on the Other Side of the Screen,

There’s a saying, "Whatever we don’t heal in the present, we can expect to meet again in the future."

If you're human, my guess is that there are times in your life when you've buried something in your heart. Sometimes for safekeeping, other times for repression. What would it feel like to release the need to complicate the healing opportunity when the thing you've buried reveals itself again?

Imagine trusting your inner wisdom to reweave the torn threads. In many ways, our path of integrity is to weave back together what has been torn apart.

There is a practice in Qoya called the Shadow Contrast Dance where we dance the opposite of the theme. For example if the theme is “trusting your inner wisdom,” you dance with the opposite and through movement, you explore “what does it feel like when you don’t trust your inner wisdom?"

In some ways, it’s like Jung’s quote, “The aspects of the shadow you don’t deal with consciously will come up unconsciously." So the Shadow Contrast Dance is like homeopathic medicine; you bring this potential discomfort to your consciousness for a few minutes so you that don’t have to carry it for the next few weeks, months, or longer.

Another dimension to this dance is the potential to shift your perspective about the opposite of the theme. Habitually, a place of shame, isolation, doubt and regret, how do you reclaim your divine capacity to look it in the eye with love?

Across time and culture, so many of us have asked a form of the question, “how do we relieve our suffering and transform it into something healing, helpful, and maybe even beautiful?” Like nature, how do we discard what has been used and compost it to regenerate what is destined to be reborn?

If you feel your psyche exploring these themes in your life, you may just find yourself reflected in the alignment of the stars above you.

Our Qoya resident astrologer Virginia Rosenberg shares:

The Full Moon in Capricorn on July 16, 2019 (5:39pm EST) is a partial Lunar Eclipse. This Moon is an exhumed tomb. To exhume is to un-bury the dead. To bring to light after a period of obscurity and neglect. To open the archives for research. To dig out of the deep Earth and through the sands of time. What will we find while mining in this clandestine cavern? The soil keeps turning, exposing secrets and long-held memories. Ruins. Remains. Fragments. Nameless bones, ash, and offerings. Junk, trash, and treasure. Old magic. Everything matters. Everything has history, and nothing goes away. Look for the legacy in whatever you meet. Time moves in waves, arcs, and spirals. Time is hyperdimensional. We defy linear time, hanging in looping crosshairs betwixt cryptic past and far-flung futures. This Moon is a crumbling monolith. Failure is a blessing. Towers are built to fall. Failure is a reprieve. Give way. These bones are weary and wise. Have yourself a long rest. We have reached a dead end. The end of the road is the beginning of the forest. We can re-learn to live here in these woods, populated with symbiotic sentient organisms, singing quietly through night. Breathing in the humus. This was our home for eons. Our cells remember. And so, we fall. We crawl. We come horizontal and multiply. We move off our iron pedestals and onto our knees. We are an offering, held by a bed of moss. Smelling softness. Slipping back to where we came from. Absorbed into the clear power of our origin, a dark crystal of total love. A place before harm. Pregnant with immaculate worlds. Offerings. Realms to be given to the Great Mother's breast. We take the shape of rebirth.

To embody this energy, I invite you to rest. Just like the silence before sound, there is stillness before movement.

Rest into earth of your body and let the energy to rise up happen organically without force. You might end up taking an hour nap. After 10 minutes, you might feel inspired to dance passionately (check out our movement videos for inspiration). Or you might slowly transition into listening to and honoring your body’s messages in each moment to see where the intelligence of your body guides you. Imagine there is no way to do this wrong, and the way you know you’re doing it right is that it feels right. You know it feels right when it resonates in your belly and your bones. Here is a guided relaxation to help you if you wish.

Along the lines of this conversation about revealing what has been buried, I invite you to explore Meggan Watterson's new book, Mary Magdalene Revealed: The First Apostle, Her Feminist Gospel & the Christianity We Haven't Tried Yet

In these pages, she asks what would our world be like if women's voices hadn't been silenced and the scriptures that confirm the presence of women in Christ's ministry and his exceptional relationship with Mary Magdalene weren't cut from the canonical Bible. Immersed into academia at Harvard's Theological School, she offers her unique perspective on the reemergence of the Gospel of Mary Magdalene and other Gnostic gospels.

Perhaps they were buried by rebels of days past, so that they could be seeds for us in the future. With opening our mind and hearts to reimagine a world with Her voice (Mary Magdalene's) present, how does that inspire us to reimagine what our world would look like with our voices raised?

Meggan also offers her soul-voice meditation which is one of my most treasured tools to come back to my heart. I LOVED this book, and if you feel called, I trust you will, too!

Thank you for being here, in this space of shared awareness. May all your journeys, inner and outer, through this eclipse season be blessed.

With a full heart,

Rochelle

Sunday, August 4, 5pm-6:30pm: The Wild Power of Self Love

It’s simpler than you think. You just have to be you. Here. In present time. You don’t have to chase all the karma chameleons from the past or the fantasies of the future. What does it feel like in the moments when you get to just be yourself and be loved for that? That wild and powerful place where the well of your self-love overflows, and you know you are more than enough. Let's go there through movement.

p.s. If you live in the LA area, have taken a Qoya class before, and are interested in dancing for a promotional video/photo shoot we're doing, please hit reply on this email and let us know!
