Dear Soul on the Other Side of the Screen,

Qoya is based on the idea that through movement, we remember. We remember our essence is inherently wise, wild and free. Have you had a moment of remembering recently? Can you track how it emerged? Did it arise from the anxious multi-tasking of daily life? Was it in a quiet moment alone at the end of the day? Does it come more easily through movement? The Qoya community organizes around this idea that through movement, we remember as inspiration to explore the sanctuary of inner wisdom, source of creativity, and ever-expanding capacity for pleasure that each of our bodies holds.

Many traditions have blamed the body for its needs and wants as distractions to our spiritual awareness. However, I have always felt gratitude towards the body for making our human lives possible. Our infinite spirits have the opportunity to experience life through the dynamic ever-changing experience of embodiment. The body makes your human journey possible, and because the body is ever-changing, an essential tool is needed to learn how to listen to it so that you can honor its unique needs in each moment. When you honor your body, your mind clears, your emotions flow, your heart opens, and your connection to spirit shifts from the intangible world into the tangible.

While some people come to Qoya because they like to dance, the invitation is for a lot more than exercise. Through movement, you remember the physical sensation of truth, of what it feels like to be in congruent alignment with your spiritual center. When you decide to trust the resonance you feel, it can help navigate your experiences in this embodied life. When you're making decisions about relationships, work, food, vacations, anything, learning to notice and trust the feeling in your body is so incredibly helpful. It's normal when people first come to Qoya to feel numb, distracted, or disassociated because of exhaustion and the fast paced ways of the modern world. Listening to the body takes one thing that all of us have, but few of us feel like we have enough of...time.

Again, I ask: what are the ways that you're able to remember the source of your spiritual connection and your truest essence? Because this full moon asks us to consider that the tethered roots of our bodies to the earth may be a great place to explore.

Our Qoya resident astrologer Virginia Rosenberg shares:

The Full Moon in Scorpio on May 18, 2019 (5:11pm EST) illuminates our roots. Growing down deep, through layers and layers of soil, water, rock, sand. Full of ghosts and pleasure. Roots clinging to the land, creating home, absorbing nutrients. Connecting us to the source that feeds and clothes us, and allowing us to grow and thrive. Giving us ourselves, our lives, and everyone we love. These invisible roots reach through timelines and crosshairs of history. They contain physical and intangible inheritances. They remind us that everything, especially the invisible, lives within the body. That an unspeakable power lives here, and we can learn to meet it through our senses. Sink into the body to remember. Reconnect. Reclaim. We are made of the life that’s been consumed, digested, and metabolized. Everything that dies becomes transformed and recycled - remade into life. Descend into the body and its innate capacities to regenerate and reform. The body, the Earth, keeps record. We are the scroll. Open the records. Be present with them, and offer them love. Banish what you’re ready to banish. Break through whatever keeps love stuck. With the turning of the times is the turning of the soil. Our roots stabilize us through massive changes. Re-home us in times of unpredictability. Connect us to all the inter-relationships that make life possible. Awaken through relating. Keep giving birth to life.

The most powerful way I know to remember your essence through movement is through the practice of shaking. I invite you to do this practice now. It's only about 5 minutes of movement! You can turn on a song and shake each part of your body until you feel a release, or follow along with this Shaking video.

Once you do the shaking video, notice if the movement works for you. Notice if through movement, you can remember. Remember how much your body loves to move. Remember how much wisdom it holds. Remember the source of your spiritual connection and your truest essence.

If movement DOES work for you, find a song you love that would be good for shaking and do it anytime you want to come back to yourself.

With love and remembering,

Rochelle
