Embody the Muse

Remember when you were a kid
and you got excited about coloring outside the lines?

You could paint a purple elephant
without thinking, “But elephants aren’t purple…”

At some point, you learned that elephants are grey,
and there was probably some teacher
who taught you to color inside the lines.

You started to question yourself, doubt your ability,
judge your artistic efforts,
and maybe even put away your paintbrush.

Yet...you still love to dance and paint.

You want time and space to go big and messy
with your feelings and your creative process.

You want to translate the wisdom in your body
into tangible expression to propel yourself forward,
exploring your feelings without having to name them
or make excuses for them.

This retreat is an invitation to tap back into your childlike joy
with freedom to enjoy the process.

It’s your permission slip to express your feelings
without judgment or congratulation
(and to paint a purple elephant or two).

It’s not about being an artist or making art.
It’s all about how it feels.

In Qoya, we say, “There’s no way to do it wrong,
and the way you know you’re doing it right is
when it feels good.”

The same philosophy applies to painting.

There’s no way to do this wrong.

We are gathering to remember, share, and get messy.

You will be elbow deep in paint, Qoya-ing ON the canvas,
moving with the color, the paint, with your body as the brush.

YOU are your own inspiration!

"Sara helped me get back to the feelings in my body when I was attempting to paint specific things on my canvas. It’s such a long held belief that I have to create something that looks good to other people; otherwise, it’s not art. Sara was amazing in holding space for me to simply feel the paint, and allow whatever was my truth to escape onto the canvas."

LINDA G., GREENVILLE, SC

After you dance Qoya, you often wonder:
how do I translate this feeling into something
I can use outside of this fleeting moment?

You reach that place where your brain is quiet
but your body is awake.
It’s time to create!

Hands in paint, expressing those feelings directly onto canvas without concern of form or of “making art.”

When you feel complete, you stand back with reverence to see how your ideas are fluid, intuitive, and sacred.

You have anchored the energy from your body into
a physical form, a touchstone to help you remember
and embody this intuitive message.

You can parent with that energy.
You can grow your business with that energy.
You can bring it to your relationships.

You will come to know your own body as your Muse.

Just as you have learned to trust the truth in your body through Qoya, through painting, you will see how your truth feels outside the boundaries of your skin, so you can interact with it from a totally new perspective. You will return home having witnessed your unfolding process with a canvas you can hang up as a reminder of your experience, or keep rolled up in storage for your next deep dive.

You are the creative force you long to be.
