Teresa has always been a passionate dancer. From ballet to belly dancing, ballroom to burlesque… She enjoys it all! She has been practicing yoga for over 10 years. Besides dance and yoga, she is interested in space, inner environments and outer environments, astrology, the cultivation of healthy minds in healthy bodies, traveling outside of the box, creating community and strengthening communication, inspiring self-expression and sensuality, and the study of femininity. She is thankful for Qoya entering her life, and she's excited to share the magic.
When did you take your first Qoya class? I took my first Qoya class with Rochelle in October of 2011 India!
What does it mean for you to teach Qoya? To me, Qoya is a movement that is very reverent - it honors the feminine and raises vibrational energy. It uplifts my spirit to uplift other people's spirits and to hold space and invite women to feel good in their own skin.
What is your favorite song to dance to right now? It is always hard for me to pick favorites - it all depends on my mood. I think Beyonce's "Ave Maria" is so beautiful, the many versions of "Feeling Good", and the song "Timber" gets me moving!
What book has inspired you on the path to embodying the feminine? "The Bodacious Book of Succulence" by Sark is playful yet powerful. Next on my list is "Awakening Shakti" by Kempton, Sally, of which I heard good things.
What would you tell someone who is thinking of taking a Qoya class for the first time? Qoya is blissful experience for your entire being - mind, body, spirit.
