(and/or favorite grandma or auntie!)

You want to embody the woman
you hope your daughter will become.

You want to give your daughter the encouragement
and belief in herself you wish you'd had growing up.

You want to find the words to tell her that her body is
sacred, magical, miraculous, and filled with wisdom for her.

You'd also like to feel your own body is
sacred, magical, miraculous, and filled with wisdom for you.

You want to connect with your own lineage as a daughter,
the power of your mother, your grandmothers.

The 'tween age is also a precious time, and you'd like
to strengthen your relationship as she becomes a teenager.

You want some quality time this summer
away from the obligations of school, work, and your family.

It would also be nice for your daughter to experience you
not only as a mother, but as a woman, both of you
in community with other like-minded women.

This retreat will accomplish all of this and more.

Growth is available to both of you,
both individually and in your relationship.

Qoya is a movement system based on the idea that
through movement, we remember.
We remember our essence, as women, is wise, wild and free.

Because Qoya is appropriate for all levels of experience, all ages, and all body types, it is a wonderful activity for mothers and daughters to share.

There is no way to do Qoya wrong, and the way you know you're doing it right is when it feels good. For girls to experience movement in a non-competitive way with the focus placed on experience over performance, they are able to enjoy movement.

Qoya is also FUN.

It is filled with time to simply dance, be silly, and let loose.

You will both leave this retreat with new ways to access wisdom in your bodies and have fun together!

"I’ve been dancing Qoya with Sara, for the past 2 years has provided a fun, non judgmental space to open up physically, emotionally, and spiritually, with other women. I have found my voice and personal strength."

As a mother of a pre-teen, my biggest desire for my daughter as she enters into becoming a woman is that she has the courage to trust her body. When she trusts her body, she can more easily make decisions, make wise choices about sex, relationships, peer pressure, drugs, and food. When she trusts her body and sees that I trust mine, she'll be more willing to communicate her needs and desires, to me and to others.

This incredible retreat is an opportunity for your daughter to see you in a different light. As you dance, and let go of needing to “do it right,” you give her unspoken permission to be perfectly herself.

We will be honoring our daughters and their growth as they enter this new phase of life, welcoming them as women, into this lineage of wisdom, vulnerability, and female community connection.  Through movement/dance, storytelling, arts and crafts, and ceremonies/rituals from all over the world, we will not only reconnect to our growing daughters, but to our own inner child, the one who may have missed out on being welcomed into womanhood herself.

We’ll have daily Qoya classes, crafts, ceremonies, and maybe even a little zip lining for those brave enough to take a leap of faith - literally! Each day, you'll have a few hours to explore, hike to the waterfall, sit on one of the porches and look out at the mountains, jump in the lake, or just sit and chat with your daughter.

Between school, friends, clubs, and sports,
it can be hard to find unstructured time with your daughter.

It can also be a challenge to find shared activities
that are active and engaging while also being relaxing and fun.

The activities and rituals from this retreat are all
nourishing things that you will be able to take back home
and share with your family and community there.

They may also spark new ways of relating and engaging
that will expand your definition of "spending time together."

Having a shared experience of lineage will nurture
your relationship during this transformational time.

"Dancing a Qoya class with Sara is truly an embodying experience. She is gifted at helping women drop into their bodies and connect with themselves to hear true inner guidance. She leads her classes with such joy and love, and holds a safe space for women to feel deeply and to connect with each other in love, transparency and vulnerability."

Sara Ballard is a life long joy seeker, lover of music & movement, sacred adornments, and is deeply committed to creating community. As a former bodyworker, Sara has always had a passion for helping women feel connected to and fall in love with the physical and metaphysical magic in their bodies.

Her life’s work has been built on various ways of helping people reconnect, access, and remember the truth in their body. She thrives on authenticity, deep connection, and reverence to her and others’ divine nature.

As mother to three wonderful and empathic children (2 daughters and one son), Sara is devoted to raising her kids to remember that they are wise, wild, and free! Through movement, ceremony and ritual, family pilgrimages, and fostering a sense of safe sacred space, Sara hopes to help her kids come to trust the physical sensation of truth in their bodies.

Sara and her family live in Greenville, SC, where she offers regular Qoya classes, teacher trainings, and retreats.

"Taking a Qoya class with Sara is like being guided into the best parts of yourself. She has a way of providing sacred space for you listen to your body, to KNOW that you are wise, wild and free. You leave her classes feeling renewed. She has a way of guiding you to trust your inner knowing, and taps into your essence, which is empowering and joyful. Sara has instilled in me the confidence to find my voice and to trust my heart to speak its deepest knowing with grace and ease."
