Choreographed dance in a Qoya class is a great opportunity to increase the mind/body

connection by learning a pattern. More importantly, it is with the intention to have more fun doing movement!

You are expanding your repertoire of movements that you can do at a wedding,

at a club or in your living room. But you're also expanding your ability to enjoy movement not

only individually but doing it with others.

Some great ideas for choreographed dances are:

Electric Slide, Samba, Salsa, Mambo, Waltz, Hula, Disco, Irish Dancing, Hava Nagila, Soul

Train, Breakdancing, African Dancing, Bhangara, Charleston, Swing, Jazz, Country Line

Dancing, Capoeira, Tap or Ballet!

It's fun to do things that are thematic like doing Irish Dancing near St. Patrick's Day.

Keep it simple in your mind to learn and simple to teach. If you want to teach something you're not familiar with

simply google, "how to do the charleston" and you'll be surprised with how easy it is to learn. Be

sure to keep it SIMPLE and have fun!

Teacher Notes:Choreographed Dance

Again, keep it very simple. The intention of this part of the class is fun.

It can really be fun to teach simple steps and, after they get comfortable with them, encourage

the women to own them and express themselves fully while dancing. It can also be helpful to take a free

dance break and then come back to the choreography with the free dance vibe integrated.
